Your reality was another future of mine—a monumental science fiction juvenile novel is now revived in the 21st century!
Work information
Koichi Iwata (Ao Nakamura) and Midori Kagawa (Minami Sakurai), second-year students at Tozaiyama High School, witness a mysterious shooting star rising in the sky on their way home from school. Soon, a mysterious boy, Norio Yamazawa (Kanata Hongo) appears in front of them. Strange events occur frequently around Koichi, as if they resonate with Norio. What appeared to be a peaceful everyday life soon sublimated into an unexpected future. Based on the novel of the same name by Taku Mayumura, Shunji Iwai, who has received high praise for his visual beauty and musical taste, is in charge of planning and producing and writing the screenplay. While inheriting the essence of the original work, it skillfully links warnings about modern society, such as the issue of nuclear power plants, and revives the masterpiece of the science fiction juvenile novel of yesteryear into the 21st century. The director is Masahiko Nagasawa, who has a reputation for works depicting young people such as ``Night Picnic'' and ``I'll Always Be Near You''. Set to Chopin's beautiful melody, it carefully depicts the delicate feelings of the boys. A work that is an answer to 20th century science fiction works with respect.
