For this release on DVD, the original 24-track master was re-edited at a studio in Los Angeles to create a new 5.1ch audio (the original audio at the time of theatrical release was stereo).
The video was created using a new print master in the presence of director Iwai and cinematographer Shinoda, faithfully reproducing the color tone at the time of release. This is the 2000 version of ``
Swallowtail Butterfly,'' which has been updated with computer noise processing and other features.
In addition, the "
Swallowtail Butterfly Special Edition" is a first-run limited edition that is coupled with the supplementary DVD "
Yentown" that provides a glimpse of the other side of YEN TOWN with valuable testimonies from staff and cast members of other nationalities who were involved in the movie. It is a 2-disc BOX specification for production only.
This "
Yentown" was released as a video when the movie was released, but this is the first time it has been made into a DVD and will not be released as a standalone item, so please take this opportunity to purchase it as a collector's item.
